The Georgia State Patrol is currently investigating the cause of a tragic fatal car accident that killed two people, and injured three others, according to a report. A pickup was headed north on Highway 100 when the driver drifted over to the southbound lane and hit a van head-on. The accident resulted in two deaths, the pickup driver's wife, who was riding in the passenger seat, and the driver in the van. All the other passengers were critically injured and taken to the hospital.

Though there was no alcohol or drugs involved in the accident, police are unsure why the driver in the pickup drifted into the wrong lane. Because his injuries are so severe, he has not yet been interviewed about the cause of the accident.

Just an hour prior to this accident, another fatal crash occurred on Highway 27 in Carrollton. The roads were wet, and a female driving a Toyota traveling north crossed over the raised median into the southbound lane and struck another car on it's right side. The woman suffered fatal injuries. According to the police investigating, the woman simply lost control on the wet roads, and drove over the median.
