Title: 2010 Brings Hike in Speeding Fines
Driving over the speed limit is about to get a little more expensive for those who have a lead foot. According to Bob Dallas the Director of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, speeding increases the likelihood of a more severe injury or even death in an auto accident. This is a lifesaving law.
Once a speeder incurs the initial citation he or she may not be aware of what is to come. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, after the initial local fine is paid a separate fine will be mailed by the state to the speeder and will notify him or her of the $200.00 charge giving them 90 days to pay.
The additional fine fee will begin at 75 miles per hour on a two lane road and includes the Interstates as well. State leaders are trying to make sure to get the word out to all Georgians to slow down or pay up.
