According to the Georgia Department of Public Safety, eleven people died on Georgia roads during the 2010 Thanksgiving holiday weekend. On Friday, November 26, 2010, a woman was struck by a vehicle leaving a high school football game in Atlanta, Georgia. On Saturday, November 27, 2010, two men were killed when their vehicle slammed into a tree in Cherokee County, Georgia. Overall, the Georgia State Patrol reported 520 wrecks which resulted in 231 injuries.

During the 2009 Thanksgiving holiday weekend, 13 people were killed and 888 people were injured in 2,348 car accidents. The highest number of auto accidents ever recorded in Georgia during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend was 43 in 1969 and the lowest was four in 1949.
