Head-On Collision on I-85 Sends 4 to Hospital, 1 in Critical Condition

Destiny Harrison, 10, and Alnita Harrison sustained serious injuries in an I-85 crash south of Newnan Sunday evening, October 5, when a Nissan Maxima crossed the median and hit the Harrison’s vehicle head-on. Also injured was Ricky Harrison, who was taken in an ambulance to Piedmont-Newnan Hospital along with Alnita. Destiny was flown by helicopter after the crash to Children’s Healthcare at Egleston Hospital and was in critical condition as of Monday afternoon, October 6. As reported by Sarah Fay Campbell of the Times-Herald, the driver of the Maxima, Kelly Firing, somehow crossed the median when traveling southbound near exit 41, which sent her vehicle into oncoming traffic in the northbound lane of I-85. The Georgia State Patrol said that her vehicle struck Ricky Harrison’s Jaguar. According to the Patrol, Firing was sent to the hospital after the I-85 crash, as well.
