  • Murphy & Associates Car Accident Law firm is professional, efficient, and a pleasant experience doing business with.
  • I was involved in a rear-end collision while stopped at a red light. Mr. Murphy and his staff guided me through this long process from obtaining medical treatment to settling with the other party's insurance company.

What is a Fractured Bone? How Can it Effect You?

June 10, 2008 - Until experiencing a bone fracture personally, many may not realize the severity and long-term effects of the injury. The most common and often more painful outcome of auto accidents, truck accidents, and motorcycle accidents, a bone fracture may require much more than just a temporary cast or sling: surgery, physical therapy, extended recovery periods, and even chronic pain and permanent partial disability are among the more serious results.

In addition to facing the high cost of medical bills, a person with a fractured bone often loses wages due to necessary time away from work for treatment and recovery. Adding to the degree in which a fracture changes the quality of one’s lifestyle, the injured person almost always experiences a loss of independence and mobility, sometimes for a long period of time.
What exactly is a fractured bone? The injury is a medical condition in which a break in the continuity of the bone has occurred. Though fractures can be caused by other medical conditions that weaken the bones of sufferers, they are often the result of force or stress on the body. You may tell someone that you have a "broken bone" after a receiving a fracture in a high-impact automobile wreck or another type of accident, but the technical term in orthopaedic medicine is "fracture" rather than "break." Whether you’ve fractured an arm, wrist, ankle, leg, shoulder, hip, rib, or another fragile bone area, we at Murphy & Associates are well-qualified to assist you with compassionate legal advice. We have seen many cases in which victims of motor vehicle accidents have suffered from broken ankles, broken arms, and other bones, and they have received compensation for their pain and suffering, lost wages, and medical bills. If you have fractured a bone due to an accident that was not your fault, we will meet with you for a free evaluation of your case. We look forward to helping you.
