Aiken County Lieutenant Killed in Tragic Car Accident
Public information officer Lt. Michael Frank, 48, of the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina was killed in a tragic accident on I-20 on November 29, according to Lynnsey Gardner of the Augusta News 12 website. As reported by the Georgia State Patrol in Madison, Lt. Frank was driving from Atlanta towards Aiken on I-20 when his vehicle veered off the interstate near mile marker 132. According to a witness, it appeared that the lieutenant had fallen asleep while driving. The State Patrol reports that his vehicle first traveled into the shoulder of the roadway, then collided with a guardrail and flipped multiple times. Lt. Frank was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
