Argument Leads to Fatal Accident in Tifton, Say Police

Shawn Martinez, 20, was killed shortly after midnight Sunday, October 12, after his vehicle flipped on I-75 North near Tifton, Georgia. According to Delivrine Registre of the WALB News website, troopers say that an argument between Martinez and his 17-year-old passenger, Rebecca Worth, resulted in Worth's taking the steering wheel, which caused the car to veer off Interstate 75 and flip multiple times. Registre reports that Martinez was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident and was killed upon impact after being thrown from the vehicle. Worth sustained injuries in the crash and was in fair condition at Tift Regional Medical Center as of 5:20 p.m. Sunday. Police are still investigating the accident.
