Atlanta Bridge Collapses

Title: Atlanta Bridge Collapses

A truck crashed into CSX railroad trestle bridge over Bolton Road in northwest Atlanta, collapsing the bridge. The truck hit the bridge, causing a 20-foot piece of concrete to fall onto the truck. The bridge is owned by CSX therefore the state is not responsible for maintenance. The driver of the truck was charged with failure to obey traffic control, unsecure load, and collision with object adjacent to the street. The driver of the truck sustained non life threatening injuries while a passenger in the truck was transported for moderate lower extremity injuries. The driver of the vehicle behind the truck was also transported to Grady Hospital with minor injuries. Bolton Road will remain closed throughout the day and commuters will have to find alternate routes to return to and from work.
