An Alabama accident turned fatal Thursday night, January 1, when a car collided with a bicycle on Baldwin County 64, according to Virginia Bridges of the Al.com (Everything Alabama) website. According to Alabama State Troopers, 47-year-old Clifford Williams of Belforest was struck on his bicycle from behind by a 2002 Dodge Intrepid traveling west on Baldwin County 64. Baldwin County Coroner Jim Small reported that it appears that the driver of the Intrepid, 52-year-old Rodney Burroughs, did not see Williams as he navigated the roadway around 8:00 p.m. According to the website, Williams had camouflage clothing on and did not have any reflectors on his bicycle. The accident, which occurred just east of Daphne, Alababma, sent Clifford Williams via ambulance to Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, but the cyclist died before reaching the hospital for treatment.
Our law firm handles bicycle accident cases, and we express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Clifford Williams. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time. If you plan to ride a bicycle on the roadway, we encourage you to use reflectors, follow all laws for cyclists, and exercise extreme caution.
