Car Accident on Highway 78 Kills Monroe Resident
The Georgia State Patrol is still investigating a Monroe area car accident resulted in fatality Monday afternoon, January 5, according to Stephen Milligan of The Walton Tribune online. The two-car accident occurred when the vehicle of 50-year-old Monroe resident Robert Stanley McElhannon crashed with another car at the intersection of Highway 78 and Youth-Monroe Road. According to officials from the Georgia State Patrol, McElhannon was navigating a left turn onto Highway 78 from Youth-Monroe Road when an eastbound vehicle on Highway 78 struck his car. Robert McElhannon was killed soon after the Monroe wreck.
