Carroll County making efforts to divert traffic from Interstate 75.

February 25, 2008 - The U.S. Highway 27 Association, which includes Carroll County, along with other counties along US Highway 27, is trying to divert traffic from Interstate 75 to Carroll County and other counties along US Highway 27. These counties have come together under their respective regional development centers and have begun to talk about alluring vacation travelers from Interstate 75 traveling to Florida.

Basically, the plan is to attempt to divert travelers to Highway 27 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where Highway 27 and Interstate 75 converge. The plan to do this is through signs and other promotional materials describing sightseeing opportunities along Highway 27. Vacationers who have traditionally taken Interstate 75 through Atlanta and on into Florida might be interested in a slightly different, more scenic route, which would take them through other counties in Georgia, including Carroll County. This would present the opportunity of tourism and tourist dollars for Carrollton and other towns in Carroll County.
