An 8 year old child was attacked by two dogs while she played outside her home Tuesday afternoon. Neighbors quickly responded with one calling 911 while the other tried to fight the dogs off her. Police officers responded and had to forceably remove the dogs from the child with their batons. One of the officers had to fire a shot at one of the dogs which fatally wounded the animal. Animal control was able to locate the other dog involved in the attack and has since euthanized the animal. The two animals roamed the neighborhood and were not contained by leash or fence. The animals owner is facing charges.

The child attacked attends Rock Chapel Elementary School and has undergone two surgeries in two days. The child remains in the hospital at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.
