Earlier this week, a minor child fell into an elevator shaft at a Marta transit station when the elevator door opened unexpectedly. According to elevator experts, when the door to an elevator opens in this manner, it suggests worn equipment. The minor child fell 12 to 15 feet onto the top of an elevator car. The child was transported to a local hospital and received minor injuries.
According to a Marta official, nothing like this accident has ever happened before. This elevator accident is still being investigated.
