City of Atlanta Approved for New Transportation Plan

A new transportation plan is underway for the city of Atlanta, according to 11 Alive's website. The City Council recently passed a long-range transportation plan for Atlanta that calls for the revamping of existing roadways and the building of new ones. Due to the near-constant congestion of many city streets, the council developed a comprehensive transportation plan– the first for the region in 20 years– that involves spending a total of $25 billion over the next 25 years. According to planners, they have asked officials for funds in the past and received negative responses but, this time, they have an actual plan to show to officials. Although a councilwoman says that the plan appears to be leaving out some very congested areas, officials say the new transportation plan for Atlanta is subject to necessary changes.
