According to the Clayton County Police Department, Clayton County Commission Chairman, Eldrin Bell, was transported to the hospital after his vehicle was rear-ended by a suspected drunk driver. The drunk driver was arrested and charged with DUI and following too closely.

Clayton County Police Department started “Operation Scrooge” on Thursday which includes drunk driving checkpoints and serving outstanding warrants. Clayton Police officers made eight arrests and issued fifteen citations within the first couple of hours. The accident happened where Clayton police had set up a checkpoint to catch DUI drivers.

Mr. Bell was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries sustained in the accident.
