Douglas County Continues to Grow

March 24, 2008 - According to U.S. Census Bureau estimates Douglas County is the ninth fastest-growing county in the state and 40^th in the nation. Douglas County grew 4.8 percent from July 1, 2006 to July 1, 2007. Douglas County ranked behind Paulding County, which grew 6.7 percent, making Paulding County the second fastest-growing county in the state and 9^th in the nation. Overall, Georgia had eighteen of the top one-hundred fastest-growing counties in the nation.

According to County Commissioner Chairman, "This growth has added to the county’s road congestion, however several new construction projects are helping alleviate some of these problems. We have had several intersection improvements, new lanes added, and the county is also working with the Georgia Department of Transportation and Georgia Regional Transportation Authority." Douglas County is in better shape than most of the other surrounding counties.
