Extra Police Patrol During The Thanksgiving Holiday | Auto Accidents & Pedestrian Accidents | Georgia Personal Injury Attorney

According to Georgia Department of Transportation the Thanksgiving holiday will include extra patrol units. The extra patrol is part of the Combined Accident Reduction Effort (C.A.R.E.) Program. This program promotes safe driving on the highways and interstates during the holiday travel period. The patrol units will also be focusing on impaired drivers and those not wearing their seatbelts. The official holiday season begins Wednesday November 25, 2010 at 6 pm and will end at midnight on Sunday November 28, 2010. Motorists involved in an auto accident are reminded of Georgia’s “Steer It and Clear It” law. This law requires drivers to clear their vehicles from roadway if there is no serious or fatal injury to anyone involved. Last year there were 13 deaths during the Thanksgiving holiday travel period. Colonel Hitchens of the Georgia State Patrol reminds travelers to anticipate delays and exercise caution while traveling this holiday season.
