Family Seriously Injured in DUI Accident

Early Tuesday morning, a man was driving under the influence in a Lincoln Navigator east on Stripling Chapel Road in Carrollton. He drove over the centerline, and struck a van carrying a mother and two teenage boys.

All involved in the accident were seriously injured. Three helicopters arrived on the scene, flying the man to Grady Hospital for a fractured back, pelvis, and rib. The mother was flown to Atlanta Medical Hospital, suffering from a broken arm and foot, and some internal injuries. The two teenage boys were taken to a children's hospital for broken bones and internal injuries.

All are now in stable condition. The man was charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, failure to wear a seat belt, driving on the wrong side of the road, and three counts of serious injury by vehicle. He was also charged with two hit-and-run accidents that were reported earlier that morning.
