Fatal Car Accident in Macon, Georgia

In Macon, Georgia, two residents, Robert Vaughn Bailey, 33 years of age and Charles Pittman, 32 years of age, were in a terrible car accident near Interstate 16 and Interstate 75 north interchange. The Macon Police Department stated a Ford F250 rollback wrecker lost control and hit a guardrail. Mr. Bailey died after being taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia. Charles Pittman was ejected from the vehicle and he was in stable condition at The Medical Center of Central Georgia. According to Macon.com, both men were thrown from the vehicle but investigators were not yet able to determine which of the men were driving.

Callie Pittman, Charles Pittman’s wife, said her husband suffered a gash to his head and received stitches in one of his ears. Ms. Pittman stated her husband’s memory of the car accident is very unclear, but Mr. Pittman did remember the truck hydroplaned before going into the guardrail at the intersection.
 
Local investigators reported that a light pole was broken from the wreck, and was leaning over the highway and needed to be repaired.

Local fire investigators stated that traffic was blocked on Interstate 16 east lanes for about an hour and slowed traffic at Interstate 75 north at Exit 165.
