Fatal Car Accident Involving NBC’s Tom Brokaw and his wife

On Friday, December 4, 2009, a three-car accident occurred in New York City involving NBC’s news veteran Tom Brokaw and his wife, Meredith. According to Examiner.com, the accident happened on the Bruckner Expressway in New York City. Mr. and Mrs. Brokaw were traveling in the far left lane when they noticed a spool of cable bouncing along the far right lane. An SUV was traveling in the right lane at a high rate of speed and tried to avoid the spool of cable. The driver of the SUV, twenty-eight year old female, lost control and slid into the middle lane of the highway which forced a mail truck into the far left lane where the Brokaw’s were driving. Mr. Brokaw then applied his brakes and skidded along the median. Afterwards, the mail truck catapulted the median and Brokaw’s vehicle slid right into it.

Mr. and Mrs. Brokaw received no injuries from this car accident, but the driver of the SUV was thrown from her vehicle and died from the injuries sustained. The driver of the mail truck, was transported to the hospital from serious injuries related to the accident.
