According to CNN.com, Nick Adenhart, a rookie pitcher with the Los Angeles Angels, was with three other victims who were involved in a fatal car accident when a minivan ran a red light and struck their sports car while hitting another vehicle. After the impact from the minivan, the sports car struck a light pole, claiming the life of three of the four people. The fourth person remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Mr. Adenhart, 22 years of age, died after undergoing surgery at Irvine Medical Center in California.
The driver of the minivan caused the accident and left the scene but was apprehended a short time later. According to Police Lt. Craig Brower, the minivan driver was arrested and booked for investigation of a felony hit-and-run.
