Event: Fatal Pedestrian Accident
On Thursday, January 21, 2010, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Highway 61, according to the Georgia State Patrol. James Wallace Simpson, 58 years of age, was attempting to cross the street just north of the Highway 166 and Highway 61 intersection when he was struck by Madeline Lapointe. Ms. Lapointe, resident of Douglasville, Georgia, was traveling in the southbound lanes in a Ford Escape. According to the Georgia State Patrol, Ms. Lapointe was not charged as a result of this pedestrian accident.
