The 11 Alive news website recently reported that Governor Sonny Perdue of Georgia has certified more road projects for federal stimulus funding. A total of 51 projects for roadways will begin, according to an announcement from Gov. Perdue that he would certify the projects Tuesday, May 5. According to the article, the funds from the stimulus must be spent by June 30, and 95% of them have been spent on over 100 projects. Among those in the new list are improvements to two intersections on Gwinnett County's Lawrenceville Highway and the Fall Line Freeway bypass in Wilkinson County, as well as other roads requiring bridge repairs or resurfacing.
As the construction begins, we encourage you to exercise extreme caution on Georgia roadways and strive for safety at all times. While improved roadways make for safer environments, the process of improving them can create dangerous situations. We represent clients who have been injured in car accidents that occurred around construction sites, and we are familiar with the danger of roads that are being repaired or resurfaced.
