June 19, 2008 - As gasoline prices continue to rise, increasing numbers of Georgia residents are considering riding bikes or motorcycles, taking MARTA, or walking to their various destinations. Perhaps the best part of this possible change, aside from protecting the environment, is a potential decrease in the number of cars on the road and, thus, car accidents. The flip side of this coin, however, is that the decreasing number of automobile accidents might coincide with increasing numbers of pedestrian, crosswalk, and motorcycle accidents.
As an experienced personal injury attorney, I have seen the life-altering effects of some motorcycle and pedestrian accidents. Due to the lack (or absence) of protective material for walkers and motorcyclists, their injuries can be far worse than the injuries of automobile drivers and passengers. Seat belts, air bags, the metal itself, and other protective features of cars, trucks, and SUVs provide a barrier between passengers and their outside surroundings. Motorcycle drivers and pedestrians do not have these forms of protection.
If you have been injured as a result of a motorcycle or pedestrian accident, you may wish to contact us for a free evaluation. Compensation may be awarded to you if you were not at-fault in the accident.
