As many will set to the roadways for an unknown destination so will the Georgia State Patrol along with local police and sheriff deputies. Memorial Day Weekend officially begins at 6pm tonight and will not officially be over for 78 hours.
According to Georgia State Patrol, their latest highway program to decrease injuries from driving impaired and driving unbuckled is known as “100 Days of Summer Heat” and will last through Labor Day. Speeding, impaired driving, unrestrained or improperly restrained individuals will be monitored by all law enforcement agencies. Law enforcement offices are hopeful that their large numbers of patrol units on the roadways will deter and decrease the number of fatalities and serious accidents this weekend and throughout the summer.
