A teenager from Cobb County was killed Saturday, January 24, when he was involved in a head-on collision in Marietta, according to Bekki Kanter of the 11 Alive website. Kanter reports that Garrett Reed, 16, was traveling north on Midway Road in his 1994 Lexus when he appeared to lose control of the vehicle, veered into the opposite lane, and collided with a 2003 Mazda-6. According to police, alcohol and speed may have been factors in the 12:30 a.m. crash, which occurred near Sylvia Drive. Reed died at the scene, and the other driver, Dallas, Georgia, resident Richard Reyes, 25, required transportation by ambulance to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for treatment. According to Kanter, Garrett Reed was a Harrison High School student and football player who loved life and was, says cousin Lori Grice, an "ALL AMERICAN teenager."
