During the hustle and bustle of the holiday season comes heavy traffic on local streets and sidewalks and parking lots filled with pedestrians. Captain, Darin Shaw of the Douglasville Police Traffic Division said there will be additional officers patrolling the streets of Douglasville during the holidays. Some busy intersections such as Highway 5 and I-20, Chapel Hill Road and I-20 along with Douglas Boulevard and Chapel Hill Road near the Arbor Place mall will have extra units available to direct traffic.
According to Chief Deputy Stan Copeland the patrol units will also be focusing on impaired drivers and those not wearing their seatbelts. The official holiday season begins today, Wednesday November 25, 2009 at 6 pm and will end at midnight on Sunday November 29, 2009.
