Hit-and-Run Accident Kills Alabama Man

A hit-and-run accident in the state of Alabama killed the driver of the vehicle that was struck, according to Al Ratcliffe of the CBS 42 website. Ratcliffe reports that the fatal wreck occurred just west of Anniston on Highway 202 Wednesday, January 7, around 8:00 p.m. According to reports, the victim was "standing next to a disabled car" when the driver of another vehicle struck the victim and fled the scene. Alabama State Troopers are still investigating the accident, but they say they have very little information to work with in order to determine what really happened. The victim has been identified by the Calhoun County Coroner as Gordon Whitman, who was headed to work at the Anniston Army Depot when he was killed.
