Hit-and-Run Driver Charged for I-95 Accident Near Savannah, Georgia

Alexander Lowther, 21, of Ohio, was arrested Monday, October 6, after causing a crash and then fleeing the accident scene in Port Wentworth, Georgia, near Savannah. As reported by Michelle Paynter of WTOC 11, Lowther was not paying attention to the roadway and other traffic when he rear-ended another vehicle and caused it to slam into the guardrail on I-95, according to police. Police looked for Lowther’s vehicle and finally apprehended him in Richmond Hill, Georgia. The 21-year-old was charged with leaving the accident scene, reckless driving, and following too closely, and he was released from jail on $1,850.00 bond. The driver of the car that was hit sustained injuries in the I-95 crash and required treatment at Memorial University Medical Center.
