
Johnny A. Phillips of Gainesville, Georgia, was killed after a vehicle-pedestrian accident Friday evening, October 17, according to Jeff Gill of the Gainesville Times website. According to Gainesville Police Lt. Floyd Canup, Phillips was walking across Browns Bridge Road near Skelton Road in Gainesville when a Honda Accord (driven by Tan Duy La) struck him around 9:14 p.m. Canup reported that Phillips was not in a crosswalk when the accident occurred, and the driver of the Accord will not face charges. Although the victim was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, he died shortly after his arrival at the hospital. The driver of the Accord and a passenger suffered only minor injuries in the accident.
