Man arrested for suspected hit and run in Savannah

A man was arrested for the suspected hit and run accident that resulted in the death of a pedestrian in Savannah, Georgia on Friday, August 7, 2009. The body of the woman was found lying in the road by police responding to a call.

The police report indicated that, the male driver, a resident of Ellabell, was arrested at his home and is being charged with first degree homicide by vehicle, drunken driving, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to maintain lane. It was reported that the Georgia State Patrol and Bryan County Sherriff's deputies tracked the man to his home not long after the incident. The man currently remains in jail.
