According to www.11alive.com, a thirteen-year-old girl from Tucker, Georgia, was in critical condition at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta yesterday morning (August 27) after suffering extensive injuries when she was hit by an armored truck while boarding her school bus. The site reports that the school bus had its stop sign extended and red lights flashing near the Mountain West Trail/ Hugh Howell Road intersection when the driver of the oncoming truck apparently lost control of the vehicle, striking the middle school girl and the bus.
According to the website, the thirteen-year-old became trapped underneath the armored truck, and the fire department had to use extrication equipment to free her. Six students were riding the bus at the time of the accident, and authorities have reported that one other child sustained minor injuries in the crash. Police are currently investigating the accident.
