Mobile Woman Killed and Police Officer Injured in Crash

Mobile, Alabama, experienced fatality Monday evening, January 19, when a Mobile police patrol car and an SUV collided on Government Boulevard near Pleasant Valley Road, according to Mark R. Kent of the Al.com (Everything Alabama) website. Mobile police spokesman Cpl. Charles Bagsby reported that the officer was traveling east on Government Boulevard in response to a call when the SUV turned from a another road into a short feeder lane and then into the roadway near the cruiser. The crash took place shortly after 7:00 p.m. and injured the officer, who was sent to the University of South Alabama Medical Center for the treatment of minor injuries, and killed the woman driver of the SUV. The accident is still under investigation, and names had not been released at the time of the report.
