According to police, on Friday, April 9, 2010, Saline Mayor Gretchen Driskell and her daughter Marielle Driskell were involved in a serious vehicle accident in Cordele, Georgia, on their way back from spring break. Ms. Driskell’s daughter, Marielle, was a student driver and was traveling north on I-75 near a construction zone, where the two lanes were separated by a concrete barrier.

A five-car accident occurred on the southbound lanes of I-75 which caused a tractor trailer truck to crash into the concrete barrier, causing the barrier to hurtle onto Ms. Driskell’s vehicle.

Both Ms. Driskell and her daughter, were transported to a Georgia hospital and received medical treatment. The daughter, is in intensive care after undergoing an operation to treat a serious foot injury. Ms. Driskell received minor foot and ankle injuries.
