Deborah Neidert-Bohl, age fifty-six, was a nurse who was on her way to work early Saturday morning when she died in a five car accident near Savannah, GA. At his first court appearance Carlos Melendez, age 22, was charged with felony DUI. Bond was set for Melendez at one million dollars. Ms. Neidert-Bohl's son, Richard Neidert, was quoted as saying "My mom was a good person. Now I see what families go through whenever they have someone killed by somebody being ignorant who wanted to get out and drive drunk. . . .It opened my eyes." Neidert doesn't hide the fact he was arrested twice for DUI in the past.
His mother loved helping people. "She didn't deserve to die," he said. Neidert-Bohl is survived by her husband, her son Richard and two daughters, Michelle and Maggie.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Sauls Funeral Home in Ridgeland. This is according to Hatzel Vela of Live 5 News.
