New Car Seat Law goes into effect July 1, 2011

Effective July 1, 2011 changes to the GA booster seat law will effect children under the age of eight. All car seat and/or booster seats must meet federal standards with manufacturer's installation and use of requirements, be of appropriate size for child's weight and height. There will be a $50.00 fine for the first conviction and subsequent convictions will include a $100.00 fine and two points against their drivers license. All children should ride in the back seat until the age of thirteen. According to the GA Highway Safety Organization children using booster seats are 59 percent less likely to be injured in an accident verses those who are only wearing a seatbelt.
