New Ga Bill Proposes To Stop Workers’ Comp Benefits For Illegal Immigrants

In the Georgia Senate on Monday January 25, 2011, several senators filed legislation and sponsored S.B.7. This bill proposes to amend Georgia law by banning illegal immigrants from receiving any workers’ compensation benefits.
In part the bill reads, “relating to general provisions relative to workers compensation, so as to provide that benefits…shall not be paid to non-citizens who are not employed legally; to provide that such payments shall not be made unless the non-citizen is present in this country legally at the time such payments are made.”
