According to the Georgia State Patrol, nine students and a bus driver were injured in an accident as they returned home from a trip to Disney World. There were more than 100 high school band students on the bus from Providence High School who were on their way home from a band competition in Orlando, Florida.
A spokeswoman for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools confirmed four buses transporting the students were traveling northbound on Interstate 95 when one the buses crashed near Brunswick, Georgia. The Georgia State Troopers stated one of the buses hit a vehicle and then hit another bus. The chain-reaction of the accident involved a total of three buses and three vehicles altogether.
The driver of one of the buses was lifeflighted to a local hospital in Savannah, Georgia. Three of the students injured were taken to a hospital for minor injuries and the other six students received medical treatment at the scene of the accident.
This bus accident is still being investigated by the Georgia State Patrol.
