Officer Not Injured In Monday Morning Collision

The Georgia State Patrol reported that a Polk County police officer was not injured as a result of a collision that occurred Monday morning about 8:45 a.m..The officer, Joshua Martin, was on routine patrol when another motorist Meril Dennis was making a left turn in her Ford Explorer. Ms. Dennis apparently turned in front of the officer causing the collision. Ms. Dennis and her three year old child in the back seat were apparently injured and taken to the Polk County Medical Center for precautionary measures.

Police officers in their line of duty are more likely than most citizens to be injured in an on the job injury given the nature of their work. Often times when an officer is injured as a result of someone else’s negligence the police officer can have a claim for workers’ compensation as well as a negligence claim against the at fault driver.

We at Murphy & Associates have handled a number of cases like this. If you are a police officer and have been injured or know an officer who has been injured in an on the job accident please feel free to contact us at Murphy & Associates for a free consultation by calling 770-577-3020.
