One Fatality and One Injured in Tractor Trailer Accident on Interstate 575

On Friday, February 5, 2010, a fatal accident occurred on Interstate 575 at Towne Lake Parkway, according to the Georgia State Patrol. Linda Louise Lopez, 38 years of age, resident of Acworth, Georgia, was struck by a tractor trailer truck, according to the Georgia State Patrol. Ms. Lopez was standing in the median between the north and southbound lanes of Interstate 575 when the tractor trailer truck veered to miss the  cars that were stopped in the roadway. According to witnesses, there had been a multi-vehicle accident prior to Ms. Lopez being hit, which was caused when one driver spun out. Ms. Lopez and some of the other people involved in the accident were standing in the median waiting on emergency personnel. Ms. Linda Lopez passed away from the injuries sustained in the fatal accident.

Another victim was also struck by the tractor trailer truck as she stood in the median. A teenage girl, resident of Holly Springs, Georgia, was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital resulting from injuries sustained in the accident.
