According to a Douglas County official, the three pit bulls involved in the attack of a Douglasville woman have shown no rabies. The dogs are being held in the Douglas County Animal Shelter until the case against the owner and caretaker are resolved.
The Douglas County authorities first charged the owner of the three pit bulls, who was out of town when the attack took place, with twenty misdemeanor violations of animal control ordinances. The violations include three counts of each dog attacking humans unprovoked, improper restraint, having canines at large on public property, no rabies vaccination or tags displayed, and failure to provide water.
The caretaker, was later charged with reckless conduct. According to the Douglas County Sentinel, the investigators stated the caretaker went to the house on July 4, and let the dogs out and left them on the back porch.
