Following two highly publicized deaths, a Georgia State Trooper and a Georgia HERO employee, the House of Representatives will considering raising the payout amounts to the survivors of those killed in the line of duty. The proposed bill, House Bill 156 would place state highway employees under the same indemnification fund which covers prison guards, law enforcement and firefighter/first responders. This bill will follow the proposed bill House Bill 107 which will allow the survivors of state employees to remain on the state’s health insurance plan.
