Among the most common causes of fatalities in the United States are
pedestrian accidents, such as those in which pedestrians are struck by motor vehicles. Many of these victims are children, especially since they are not full-grown and, therefore, are more difficult to see. Monday, another family experienced tragedy as they lost their 4-year-old girl in a
pedestrian accident.
According to Deidra Dukes and Steve Dixon of the My Fox Atlanta website, 4-year-old Brandee Kelley, the daughter of 31-year-old Altamesa Walker of
Smyrna, Georgia, died Monday morning, December 8, after being struck by a vehicle near the intersection of South Cobb Drive and King Springs Road in
Smyrna. Walker and her three other children sustained minor injuries in the collision, which occurred around 6:00 a.m. as the mother and her four children attempted to cross South Cobb Drive. According to the report, the family was trying to catch a bus at the stop across the street because they had missed their bus. After the impact, Brandee Kelley was placed on life support at Emory Adventist Hospital and flown to Scottish Rite Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Police have reported that the driver of the vehicle that hit the little girl was the first person to report the accident to 911 and is extremely cooperative.
We express our deepest condolences to the family of little Brandee Kelley. We represent clients who have faced the indescribable trauma of losing a loved one in a
fatal accident, and our thoughts are with you at this most difficult time.
