According to the Emory University Police, a student was struck by a vehicle, and the driver kept going. The pedestrian accident happened near the intersection of North Decatur Road and Oxford Road.

The Emory Police Department responded to the scene of the accident and reportedly the vehicle was driven by a while female, which initially stopped, but then left the scene of the accident. The student is expected to recover.

On Friday, June 11, 2010, two teenagers were struck by a vehicle in Carrollton, Georgia. According to the Georgia State Patrol, the teenagers were walking along Holly Drive in Carrollton when they were struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, a thirty eight year old, was traveling southbound when he crossed over the northbound lane.

Both teenagers were transported to Atlanta Medical Center for medical treatment. One teenager passed away from injuries sustained in the accident. The other teenager has since been released.

The Georgia State Patrol is still investigating this pedestrian accident.

The thirty eight year old male was charged with driving on the wrong side of the road, leaving the scene of the accident, endangerment to a child, serious injury by a vehicle and driving without a license. He is also facing charges of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence. He was booked into the Carroll County Jail.

According to the Atlanta Police Department, an 8 year old boy is in critical condition after a driver ran a red light and hit the child in a crosswalk, then dragged him down the roadway approximately 100 to 150  feet. The driver of the vehicle, Cynthia Parham, 47 years of age, was charged with a felony hit and run as well as other traffic charges. She was transported to the Fulton County Jail.

Woman Struck in Crosswalk by Hit and Run Driver | Douglasville Pedestrian Accident Attorney

On Friday, March 19, 2010, a pedestrian hit and run accident occurred on Jonesboro Road in Forest Park, Georgia. According to the Forest Park Police Department, Carol Floyd, 60 years of age, was crossing Jonesboro Road in the pedestrian crosswalk when she was struck by an SUV. At the time of the accident, a Forest Park Police Officer was coming up on the intersection and caught the accident on the dash cam. According to the video of the pedestrian accident, it shows the SUV striking Ms. Floyd, sending her into the air and onto the pavement. Also, shown on the video was the driver of the SUV who stopped after striking Ms. Floyd apologized and then left the scene of the accident.

As of March 21, 2010, there is no new information on the hit and run driver.

Georgia Resident Involved in Hit and Run Accident in Florida

On February 21, 2010, a Georgia resident was involved in a hit and run accident in Okaloosa County, Florida. According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, Clarence Brasfield, 73 years of age, resident of Georgia, was the victim in the accident.

Vicky Ann Metrejean, resident of Niceville, Florida, has been charged with hitting Mr. Brasfield and leaving the scene of the accident. According to the sheriff’s office, Ms. Metrejean failed to stop after hitting Mr. Brasfield on John Sims Parkway.

Mr. Clarence Brasfield was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital from injuries sustained in the accident. He was listed in critical but stable condition.

Afterwards, a deputy at the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, received a telephone call stating a woman was passed out behind the wheel of an SUV. The SUV was at the gate of Destiny West Subdivision. The damage to the front of the vehicle was consistent with the hit and run accident. A black glove was found in the vehicle that matched the same glove found at the scene of the accident.

According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, additional charges are pending against Ms. Metrejean.

On Thursday, January 21, 2010, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Highway 61, according to the Georgia State Patrol. James Wallace Simpson, 58 years of age, was attempting to cross the street just north of the Highway 166 and Highway 61 intersection when he was struck by Madeline Lapointe. Ms. Lapointe, resident of Douglasville, Georgia, was traveling in the southbound lanes in a Ford Escape. According to the Georgia State Patrol, Ms. Lapointe was not charged as a result of this pedestrian accident.

According to the Sandy Springs Police Department, a 4 year old boy and his 18 year old sister were hit by a vehicle on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs, Georgia yesterday. The sister and her brother were crossing Roswell Road near Windsor Parkway and were standing in the reversible turning lane when they were both struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle entered the reversible turning lane the same time as both the sister and brother did.

The 4 year old boy was transported to Children’s Hospital in Sandy Springs, Georgia with serious head injuries sustained in the accident. The 18 year old sister received medical treatment at the scene of the accident and was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital. The sister appeared to be pregnant according to the paramedics on scene.

The pedestrian accident is still being investigated by the Sandy Springs Police Department and no charges have been filed against the driver of the vehicle.

According to the Dekalb County Police, the driver of the vehicle, a eighty-three year old woman, was turning right when she hit him in the crosswalk. The pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition from the injuries sustained in the accident.

The Dekalb County Police are still investigating the said accident and charges are pending.
