A Georgia vehicle-pedestrian accident occurred at the intersection of GA Highway 101 and Wax Road in Rockmart, GA, on St. Patrick’s Day. The pedestrian was identified as Jorge Sanchez Perez, 37 years of age. Residents of Rockmart, Georgia, including Jorge Sanchez Perez, were crossing GA Highway 101 leaving a restaurant and heading towards a convenience store. According to an article by Jeff Gable of the Rome News-Tribune, the driver of a Hyundai Elantra did not see Mr. Perez crossing the street and struck him. The driver of the vehicle did not realize that he hit Mr. Perez until he turned around. The pedestrian died at the scene of the accident of massive multiple traumas. The Floyd County Police Department stated no charges would be filed against the Hyundai Elantra. The fatal pedestrian accident is still under investigation in which blood alcohol tests for the victim and driver are pending.
