According to the Georgia State Patrol, a Clayton County on-duty police officer was seriously injured when he was rear ended. The officer was following a Department of Transportation work crew when he was struck from behind by a 5 ton box truck. The officer was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital and the driver of the truck was charged with following to closely, causing serious injury by vehicle and too fast for conditions. The officer is in stable condition.
