1. You must yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk in many situations, including the following:
When making a left or right turn at any intersection
At stop signs, after coming to a complete stop and before proceeding
When the pedestrian is upon the half of the roadway on which the vehicle is traveling
When entering a street or highway from an alley, driveway, or private road
If the pedestrian is noticeably blind (carrying a white cane or being guided by a dog)
2. You must come to a complete stop and remain stopped until the pedestrian has crossed the roadway.
3. If pedestrians are still in the crosswalk when the light is green, you must yield to them (coming to a complete stop).
4. A crosswalk is the part of the pavement for pedestrian traffic where the sidewalk would extend across the street. Even if unmarked, crosswalks exist on all four corners of intersections.
5. Before turning right on red, you must come to a complete stop before the crosswalk.
6. There is an 80% chance that a pedestrian’s injuries will be fatal if he or she is struck by a vehicle traveling at 40 miles per hour.
