What police believe was a racing accident on I-285 in DeKalb County left two people dead and two injured Tuesday evening, according to the WSBTV website. According to witnesses, a Mustang and a Corvette were racing in the northbound lanes of the interstate between the Lavista Rd. and Lawrenceville Hwy. exits around 8:00 p.m. Tuesday when the driver of the Corvette, 20-year-old Brandon Phillips, lost control of his car. After striking a guard rail, the Corvette collided with an SUV, killing Phillips and his passenger, 18-year-old Jordan Makanani, and injuring two people in the sport utility vehicle. Police located and questioned the driver of the Mustang on Wednesday regarding the I-285 racing incident in the Atlanta area.
