Rainy Weather in Georgia Can Cause Deadly Accidents

Based on an article from 11 Alive news, troopers from the Georgia State Patrol reported that, as of 12:00 p.m. Saturday, 10 people died in Georgia over the holiday weekend due to traffic accidents on rainy roadways. The patrol predicted up to nine more traffic-related fatalities for the remainder of the weekend, and the message from the patrol is simple: "Slow down!" Especially during these rainy conditions, Georgia drivers are asked to reduce their driving speeds to ensure safety. According to 11 Alive, the following accidents occurred throughout the rainy weekend:
–Early Saturday morning (shortly after midnight), a MARTA bus crashed through the guard rail on the Bolton Road overpass over I-285 and headed down an embankment, barely avoiding landing on I-285 below.
–Around 2 hours after the MARTA accident, an SUV swerved out of control while navigating the curve from I-85 onto I-75 North.
–A six-car pile up occurred on the Downtown Connector that temporarily shut down all lanes of the roadway around Courtland.
Although the above mentioned accidents did not result in any fatalities, the wrecks serve as reminders to Georgia drivers to slow down and not follow too closely when traveling on slick roadways.
