On February 1, 2010, a resident of Columbus, Georgia was involved in a fatal car accident, according to the police officers on the scene. The accident occurred at the intersection of Floyd Road and Hunter Road. According to local police, Tommie Lee Mitchenor, 81 years of age, did not stop at a stop sign on Hunter Road and he attempted to make a left hand turn onto Floyd Road and he was struck by a vehicle on the driver’s side. The vehicle that hit Mr. Mitchenor was driven by Jermaine Smith, 18 years of age, resident of Fort Mitchell, Alabama.

Mr. Smith and his passenger sustained minor injuries as a result of the fatal auto accident.
